The directors met in 2004 whilst studying at the University of Sussex. Tim was studying for an MENG in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Becky was studying a BSC in Biology.
During their time at university, they both lived in several shocking properties, dealing with awful landlords, and some even worse letting agents, they decided things needed to change and prepared to start their own property company. Once finished the University of Sussex, Tim studied further at Reading University to become a chartered surveyor getting a PgDp in surveying and Becky then qualified in bookkeeping.
Having first-hand knowledge of the trouble’s renters, especially students and sharers, were facing in the private rental section, they started building a portfolio of properties, wanting to provide good quality homes for their tenants, with an emphasis on service. Accumulating 40+ properties over Brighton and Hove by 2020.
With 20 years of being in in the property industry, Tim and Becky created 29 Homes, and assembled a team of qualified and experienced staff to assist managing their homes, deciding to move everything “In house” and not with a third party agencies meant that they could ensure that their values of providing quality homes and personalised service to tenants was always met, and shared within the company, and they could continue to evolve and maintain the standard of care given to properties and tenants, which they did not experience whilst renting.
Sharing a passion for property, Tim and Becky are both members of IHOWZ (formally the southern landlord association) and Tim sits on the committee of IHOWZ for Brighton and Hove. IHOWz provide and train other landlords to ensure they are compliant in lettings and property regulations and provide guidance to those looking to become a landlord as well as providing information for tenants.
